Whiskey Creek Stamps
Katherine
Katherine from Shakespeare's King Henry IV is one of my very favorite images and has graced my Document Design web page for several years now.
Of course, as you probably know, those working with acetate will usually tell you not to use lumpy things behind the acetate even though those beads do seem like the perfect touch. Well, I just had to try it just the same. What they don't tell you is that these little beads really don't stick worth a hoot to that cold laminate adhesive and forever after your creation is leaking beads every time you move it.
Katerhine was created from the image printed on overhead acetate, the same type I use in printing the Whiskey Creek Plate Sampler.
Materials
- half a sheet of mauve cardstock, folded to make a 4.25 inch x 5.5 inch card and a quarter of a sheet of pale pink cardstock for layering
-
- overhead projection film with image of Katherine printed on it
-
- Pearlescent Ink in platinum pink
-
- Perfect Paste Adhesive
-
- Beadz
-
- Winsor and Newton ink, gold
-
- Yes glue
-
- 1/8-inch Wonder Tape
-
- Gildenglitz
-
- Bond 527 glue
-
- pink confetti hearts
-
- Pilot gold leafing pen
Directions:
- Paint the back side (the side without the laser toner) of the acetate image with platinum pink Pearlescent Ink and let it dry thoroughly.
-
- Apply a layer of Perfect Paste Adhesive to the painted back side of the image and sprinkle with Beadz. Well, only if you want to have miniscule pellets raining all over the place every time you move your image. While the glue is still wet, press the light pink card stock down on top of the Beadz swimming in the Perfect Paste Adhesive. Allow and allow to dry.
-
- When you turn your dry acetate and card stock sandwich over, Beadz will sprinkle out all over the place and you will see that the acetate didn't adhere very well to the cardstock. What you really have is a shaker card without a sealed edge.
-
- Carefully glue the leaking shaker card to the mauve card with Yes glue, moving the assemblage as little as possible in the process. Then seal the edge of your leaking shaker card with 1/8-inch Wonder tape. Press down as tightly as possible. Then remove the top layer of the tape and apply Gildenglitz. You now have the ersatz shaker card sealed, although the surface of the acetate will be bubbly.
-
- Highlight the Katherine's headband with Winsor and Newton gold ink.
-
- Glue pink confetti hearts with Bond 527 around the edge of the Gildenglitzed tape to soften the thickness of the edge where it meets the mauve cardstock.
-
- Finish the edge of the card with a gold Pilot leafing pen.
